Diablo 2 Resurrected: Reign of the Warlock!

Update Overview

Diablo 2 Resurrected: Reign of the Warlock!

A massive new update has arrived for Diablo II: Resurrected, bringing a brand new class, fresh item systems, revamped endgame challenges, and meaningful quality of life improvements. If you thought Sanctuary had nothing left to surprise you with, think again.

We have already updated the site with the new [@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "d2 armor", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop item types and some Runewords.

The Warlock Enters Sanctuary

The headline feature of the update is the arrival of the Warlock, a dark spellcaster who bends the powers of Hell to their will.

This new class revolves around three distinct paths:

Demon

Bind and enslave hellspawn, turning them into loyal and terrifying allies. The Demon path focuses on summoning and control, but with a darker, more aggressive identity than traditional minion builds.

Eldritch

Channel devastating mental energies into weapons, transforming them into arcane conduits of destruction. Eldritch Warlocks blend martial combat with spell amplification, opening hybrid build potential.

Chaos

Harness fire and shadow, unleashing the raw elemental force of Hell itself. Chaos builds excel at ranged devastation and large scale destruction.

The Warlock introduces entirely new build archetypes and opens up creative synergy options with recently added Runewords and Grimoires.

New Treasures and the Chronicle System

Sanctuary’s loot pool grows once again.

This update introduces:

  • New Unique items
  • New Set items
  • New Runewords (we're adding these first)
  • Grimoires as a new item category (already added)

To support collectors and completionists, Blizzard has added the Chronicle system, which tracks your item collection account wide. This provides long term progression goals beyond ladders and traditional farming.

For Holy Grail players and item hunters, this is a major evolution.

Terror Zones: Now Under Your Control

Terror Zones have been reworked to give players more agency.

Instead of rotating unpredictably, you now have more control over where you fight and how you progress. The updated system introduces new mechanics that reward smart positioning, optimized builds, and mastery of your class.

This makes targeted farming and strategic progression more viable than ever.

The Ultimate Colossal Challenge

The Ancients return for an even more brutal encounter.

Arreat Summit once again becomes the stage for a true endgame test. This is not a nostalgia fight. It is a high stakes challenge designed for fully optimized builds and coordinated parties.

Prepare carefully. Underestimate this encounter and you will pay for it.

Quality of Life Improvements

Reign of the Warlock also introduces several powerful improvements while preserving the core identity of Diablo II.

Customizable Loot Filter

Reduce screen clutter and highlight what actually matters to your build. This is one of the most requested features in the game’s history.

Improved Stash Tabs

Resource management becomes significantly easier with:

  • Dedicated gem tabs
  • Rune storage
  • Material sorting

For players managing multiple characters or large collections, this is a game changer.
