Everything You Need to Know About Crafting in Last Epoch
Unlock the power of Forging
How to Craft
Crafting in Last Epoch is done through the Forge. The Forge can be opened by pressing the [F] button or by accessing the menu. This feature allows for Crafting at any location, as all Crafting materials are conveniently stored in the Crafting Inventory.
Crafting allows you to modify the Affixes on an item, by using Affix Shards, Modifier Runes, and Support Glyphs.
Forging Potential
To start Crafting, you need an item with at least 1 Forging Potential. Forging Potential is a property to rolls on Magic, Rare, Exalted, and Experimental items.
Whenever you craft with an item, the Forging Potential of that item can be reduced by a random amount within a certain range. The cost of Forging Potential depends on a few factors:
- The tier of the Affix being added or upgraded (range)
- Rune cost
- proc consumes no FPGlyph of Hope
- Critical Success
Crafting Materials
Affix Shards
Affix Shards are one of the core elements in Crafting. These items can drop from enemies and contain the essence of an Affix.
The shards can be used to add an Affix to an item, or to upgrade Affixes that are already on the item. Each upgrade consumes one Affix Shard of the same type.
Support Glyphs
Support Glyphs are items that modify the outcome of a craft when upgrading an Affix.
- : has a 25% chance to not consume Forging Potential when upgrading an Affix.Glyph of Hope
- : randomly changes the upgraded Affix to a different Affix that can spawn on the item. It can not change prefixes to suffixes and vice versa.Glyph of Chaos
- : when upgrading an Affix, the affix is not rerolled, meaning that high rolls stay high rolls.Glyph of Order
- : has a chance to seal an Affix instead of upgrading it. When an Affix is sealed, it's move to a dedicated slot and the original slot is freed up. A sealed Affix cannot be altered anymore.Glyph of Despair
- : can be used to create an Experimental Item. One Affix will be converted to an Experimental Affix in a deterministic way, meaning that any specific combination of affixes will always reult in the same Experimental Affix.Glyph of Insight
Modifier Runes
Runes drastically change the outcome of the Crafting process.
- : Destroys the item and returns between 1 and all Affixes as Affix Shards.Rune of Shattering
- : Reroll all unsealed Affixes on the item within the range of the Affix' tier.Rune of Refinement
- : Removes a random Affix from an item and returns as many Affix Shards as the Affix tier. The returned Affix Shard is of the same type as the removed Affix.Rune of Removal
- : Fills all empty Affix slots with tier 1 Affixes. Rarer Affixes are more common this way. Note that this rune does not cost Forging Potentiel, but it can only be applied to items with at least 1 Forging Potential.Rune of Discovery
- : Rerolls the implict stats on an item.Rune of Shaping
- : Turns an item into a Unique or Set item of the same base type.Rune of Ascendance
- : Duplicated the item, but sets the Forging Potential of both items to 0.Rune of Creation
- : Seals an Experimental Affix. When an Affix is sealed, it's move to a dedicated slot and the original slot is freed up. A sealed Affix cannot be altered anymore.Rune of Research
Critical Success
Every time you upgrade an Affix, there is a small chance the upgrade will be a Critical Success. When this happens, the upgrade will consumes no Crafting materials, no Forging Potential, and a random other Affix will be upgraded for free.
