What Are Runewords?
Runewords let you create your own spells by combining two types of runes:
- Runes of Ritual: These trigger actions when you perform a specific task in the game.
- Runes of Invocation: These provide powerful effects when triggered by a matching Ritual rune.
To create a Runeword, you need to:
- Pair a Rune of Ritual with a Rune of Invocation.
- Socket them into an item with two sockets.
The stronger the rune's rarity, the more powerful the effect!
Understanding the Offering System
The Offering system is like a resource bank for runes:
- Runes of Ritual generate Offering, which is consumed by the Runes of Invocation.
- More challenging rituals generate more Offering.
- Stronger invocations require more Offering.
There's also a feature called Overflow:
- If a Rune of Invocation receives more Offering than needed, it goes into Overflow, giving you bonus effects that scale with the extra Offering.
Rules of Runewords
Here are the basic rules to keep in mind:
- Runes must be socketed into items with two sockets (Helm, Chest Armor, Pants, and Two-Handed Weapons)
- A Rune of Ritual must be paired with a Rune of Invocation.
- You can equip up to two Runewords at a time.
- You can't use the same rune twice.
- Runes can stack in your inventory and are tradable with other players.
- Runes are only available in Vessel of Hatred
Crafting with Runes
You can craft new runes:
- Combine three of the same rune to roll a new one.
- The new rune will be different from the ones you used.
- Using magic and rare runes gives you a chance to craft a rune of higher rarity.
You can also craft any Mythic Uniques using specific runes and a Resplendent Spark at the Jeweler.
